Inspired by a regular feature in All Out Cricket magazine, every Friday we will be giving you the opportunity to look inside the mind of a Maldon CC member via our 20 Questions. This week is a guy that is known by everyone at the club.....

1. Describe yourself in one word.

Versatile

2. What word or phrase do you most overuse?

Alright pal / That’s Quality

3. What is your idea of happiness?

Early morning Ski, followed by watching a box set of Phoenix Nights and then anything sporty whilst on holiday in Las Vegas in a pre-1999 world were emails and mobiles didn’t exist and people talked to people face to face

4. What is your biggest pet hate?

Definitely Saturday afternoon dog walkers with zero understanding of Cricket slowly sauntering past sight screens without a care in the world and holding up play….it proper gets on my nerves!

5. Which living person do you most admire and why?

My wife Ruth.She puts up with me.

6. What would be your fancy dress costume of choice?

Rocky body suit – then I would have a body like my hero Jamie Glenn

7. If you were an animal, what would you be?

An Aardvark………I like sticking my nose in warm moist places!!

8. What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

Holly Willoughby

9. Which 3 people would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Holly Willoughby, Ant and Dec (does that count as 1 or 2 people?) and Peter Kay

10. Whose windows would you most like to smash?

Michael Gove’s – the former education minister who oversaw the current educational changes we are having to deal with and ruined sport and PE in this country for future generations.

11. Who would you like to play you in a film of your life?

Freddie Flintoff

12. What song would you have playing when walking out to bat?

Contrary to predicable opinion…I wouldn’t have Sweet Caroline or Amarillo… I’d probably go for Summer of 69 – Bryan Adams

13. If you could be one other cricketer for a day, who would you be?

Reece O’Connell – make the game look easy, dominate- score a 100, take a 5 for……. and then look forward to going home

14. What is the first record you bought?

Boy George – Karma Chameleon, loved it, was gutted when I found out why he dressed a bit weird

15. Who is your favourite comedian?

Peter Kay

16. What one piece of advice would you give to an U9 colt?

Never wear a box as an oxygen mask

17. What is your favourite cricket tea item?

The salmon

18. Who is the biggest moaner you have ever played cricket with?

Corey Edwards – was never happy in the short time he was with us!Wanted everything for nothing….including late night tv channels!

19. Where would you most like to watch a test match?

From an all expenses paid corporate box, complete with hot tub at the MCG

20. What is your greatest ever performance on a cricket pitch?

149 not out v Long Melford (but was probably more pleased with the leg side stumping and leg side catch stood up to the wicket for both their openers!)
