Competitive Cricket Returns

Saturday 18th July will see the return of competitive cricket to Maldon Cricket Club. Four games over the weekend will give players the chance to return to action, with good weather hoped for by us all.

The 1st XI, led by Toby Pugh, travel to 2019 Division 1 Champions Witham for their first action of the summer. The 50 over a side game will begin at 12 o'clock. The side is near full strength, with vice captain Matt Anderson, plus former captains Jimmy Ainscough and Chris Harris also in the side.

At Drapers Farm, Ben Gibbons will captain the 2nd XI in the second half of a Witham double header. The clash should be an interesting one, as both side have faced each other many times in recent years in some close contests. This match will start at 1pm, with 45 overs per side the maximum length of one sides innings.

Mike Smith will take the Third XI to Chappel and Wakes Colne. The side, as always, sees a mix of youth and experience blended together. This is also the case on Sunday, as a friendly XI take on Boreham at Drapers, under the captaincy of Jas Baines. Both these games will be 1pm starts with 45 overs per side

The club asks all players, officials and visitors to adhere to all the ECB and Government guidance regarding social distancing and behaviour at all times. Players are reminded to arrived wearing whites and to bring their own food. Any players with covid symptoms must inform their captain and withdraw from playing prior to arriving at the venue.
