Desert Island Dons - Week 2
In keeping with the past few seasons, in 2019 we will run a new weekly segment on the website. This year the theme is 'Desert Island Discs' in which, for those unfamiliar with the Radio 4 show, a club member suggests the five records, luxury item, book, and personal memento they would keep with them if they found themselves stranded on a desert island.
This week is the turn of Steve Brown.
Your five records and why?
1. I Am... I Said - Neil Diamond
- My favourite track of his even though we all love Sweet Caroline.
2. Lessons in Love - Level 42
- My 80s band..seen them a few times.
3. You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry Marsden
- Obviously.
4. Mr Blue Sky - ELO
- Just a great track.
5. Teenage Kicks - The Undertones
- Great track and love Fergal Sharkey’s voice.
What would be your luxury item and why?
Would have to be a bottle of expensive Argentinian Malbec...just a great wine.
Your book and why?
Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks or a Jack Reacher novel by Lee Childs.
Your personal memento and why?
My Nan's mint humbug tin…always had a mint when we left her's and I took it as a keepsake.
Thanks for your selections, Brownie. Expect another Don with their selections next Friday afternoon.
