Desert Island Dons - Week Four
In keeping with the past few seasons, in 2019 we will run a new weekly segment on the website. This year the theme is 'Desert Island Discs' in which, for those unfamiliar with the Radio 4 show, a club member suggests the five records, luxury item, book, and personal memento they would keep with them if they found themselves stranded on a desert island.
This week we see Club Secretary Steve Dack cast away.
Your five records and why?
1. Level 42 - Sun Goes Down (Living it Up)
- The band I have seen most times and perfect for lazing on a desert island watching the sun going down!
2. Pink Floyd - Echoes
- Anything by them was good before they lost the plot.
3. Neil Diamond - Cracklin' Rosie
- First No. 1 from my favourite solo artist in my teens.
4. The Crusaders - Street Life
- Another great song and band from my youth.
5. Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever?
- Saw them live - great as a stage act.
What would be your luxury item and why?
A case of malt whisky - what else is there to do?
Which book would you take?
'Sober' by Tony Adams - I'm not a great reader but he was a great player from a great team.
Your personal memento?
My London marathon medal or a pair of my old Speedos to remind me I was fit in my youth.
Thanks Steve, I'm sure Chloe is thrilled to hear about the Speedos. Next week we'll have another castaway with their selections.
