Maldon Cricket Club statement 10 July 2020

Now that the government and ECB are allowing us to begin to play cricket again, the committee just wanted to confirm the clubs current position and inform members about how we will be operating for the remainder of 2020 season.

Cricket this season clearly won’t be quite the same as we have been used to in the past. Safety of everyone involved is the most important thing, and therefore lots of work is being put into ensuring compliance with the ECB’s requirements that will help to protect everyone. Please ensure that you follow the instructions given to you, as they have been set out for the benefit of you and everyone around you, while enabling you to play the game.

Thanks to the efforts of fundraisers and grant applicants the club’s financial position remains sound and the Committee know that the Members are ambitious to develop and further enhance the club and its facilities and there will be costs associated with delivering that moving forward. However as this season and play is severely curtailed the Committee has decided to request a nominal membership fee (for insurance purposes), and a match fee that will contribute to the costs of playing the game in these circumstances, as follows:

• Men - £10 membership fee (payable by 31 July) & £10 per match fee

• Ladies - £5 membership fee (payable by 31 July) & £5 per match fee

• Colts - £5 per match fee

It’s been great to see how everyone has stuck together remotely during this time showing what a family club we are. I’m sure you will agree that this situation has been bringing out the best in human nature and now we will get the chance to be together and share time and experiences again on the field of play.
